Buriti is a palm tree native to the Amazon rainforest. The flesh from its fruit is rich in oil and is traditionally used by indigenous peoples for its protective properties. Buriti oil is packed with carotenoids, unsaturated fatty acids and pro-vitamin A, which give it antioxidant, nourishing and protective properties.
“A Positive Sourcing” program developed with Pur Projet for selecting more responsible supply chains.
Buriti fruits are harvested by communities in the Amazonian forest at the mouth of the Amazon River using practices that preserve biodiversity. The fruits are then transported along the river to Belem for extraction. To develop the local economy, our buriti oil is produced by Amazonian communities who perform the initial stages of seed processing on site. Buriti fruit harvesting is the main source of income for the communities involved.
