Ximenia is a small fruiting shrub found mainly in the African savannah. Ximenia seeds yield a white oil rich in ximenic acid, a rare fatty acid, which gives its nourishing virtues.
“A Positive Sourcing” program developed with Pur Projet for selecting more responsible supply chains.
The ximenia oil we use comes from northern Namibia, where 4,000 gatherers – mostly women – from 20 villages are trained in sustainable harvest methods to ensure that the ximenia supply is preserved for future generations. Most of the inhabitants of these villages depend on food crops. For these rural populations, harvesting and selling ximenia seeds is an indispensable source of additional revenue.
